Meet Brianna

Having been involved with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) since 2009, Brianna Haag began the Slap Cancer campaign when she was nominated to participate in a 10-week fundraising competition to win the title of LLS Woman of the Year 2012. Slap Cancer ended up raising the most amount of money of any SF Man or Woman of the Year campaign since the competition originated in San Francisco 22 years ago! Although the 10 week fundraising challenge is complete, the Slap Cancer name will live on through a series of future events throughout the year, as well as the legacy of the annual Mr. Marina Competition.

In support of LLS Brianna has completed three seasons with their Team in Training program on both the marathon and triathlon teams. She first got involved with the program when her father Russell Haag was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. After undergoing 4 rounds of chemotherapy in 2011 his white blood cell count is down again although he’s not completely cured.

Through her various fundraising efforts, Brianna has found that events are a great way to raise money and awareness for a cause. As a member of Eventbrite‘s marketing team, she’s seen how Eventbrite’s simple platform has helped nonprofits and individual fundraisers use technology to make their events easier to run and more impactful.

Originally from San Diego, she has called San Francisco home for over 4 years. Brianna is an alumna of UC Davis where she served as an Associated Student Senator as well as President of the Epsilon Rho chapter of Alpha Phi. She just recently completed her first Ironman triathlon at Ironman Canada 2011, and is the current social chair for the SF Tri Club. A professional event organizer and serial attendee, when she’s not checking out all the exciting SF events ticketed via Eventbrite, her other hobbies include traveling, Yelping, tweeting and scooting around the city on her yellow Vespa.
